Many clinics automatically recall every patient every 6 months. We do not believe this is necessary for everyone. If you have good oral hygiene and low risk of decay or gum disease, we will normally recall you annually rather than every 6 months.
Your dentist will check for decay, cracks, unusual wear patterns, and gum health. They will also examine your tongue, throat, face and neck for any signs that could indicate oral cancer.
For nervous patients, we offer laughing gas and IV sedation in the clinic. More complex procedures can be performed under general anaesthetic at St John of God Midland.
Sleep dentistry

Laughing gas
Safe for adults and children. No lasting side effects. Wears off as soon as the gas is stopped.
IV sedation
Feels like a relaxing sleep with little memory of the procedure. Administered by a specialist medical anaesthetist. Medicare rebate available for the anaesthetist component.
General anaesthetic
Performed at St John of God Midland Private Hospital. Dr Nicole Hocek is credentialed and operates a regular theatre list.
Wisdom teeth removal
At Dental Sense, we have the facilities and expertise to perform routine and complex wisdom teeth removal. Dr Nicole Hocek has a special interest in oral surgery and is credentialed to operate at St John of God Midland.
- Simple cases: extraction in the chair using local anaesthetic

If you are with a major health fund, there is no gap on the hospital stay. Your only out-of-pocket costs are the dental treatment itself and a small gap for the anaesthetist.

Child Dental Benefits Schedule
Dental Sense is a registered Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule dentist for Midland and surrounds. We bulk bill all eligible general dental treatment up to the $1,000 limit for children on Family Tax Benefit A or B.
Sedation options for kids
Laughing gas is a safe and effective way to help anxious children relax. It does not put them to sleep, has no lasting side effects, and wears off immediately once the gas is stopped.
School education program
We provide free dental education sessions to day care, kindergarten, pre-primary and primary school Years 1 and 2 across the City of Swan.
